connect Mentoring:

 What is a Mentor?

A mentor is a wise and trusted guide and adviser.  A mentor is a friend, a coach, an advocate, a positive role model, a resource and a supporter.  A mentor is NOT a substitute parent, a babysitter, a social worker, an ATM or a miracle worker.

These special volunteers work through the Ohio County Schools to offer support and encouragement, assist with schoolwork to help their mentee (student) thrive, and provide guidance so they can avoid problems like substance abuse and violence.

Mentors :
  • Meet weekly with their students at their school (one hour, once a week)
  • Receive training and monthly support
  • Are 21 years and older
  • Make a minimum one year commitment
  • Pass background and screening process

CONNECT Youth are:
  • Students from all Ohio County Schools
  • Youth referred by parents, teachers, etc.
  • Youth in need of a positive role model
  • Fatherless
  • Youth who deserve a caring adult....YOU!

Mentoring Works!
